Man Utd and Chelsea target Nathaniel Clyne could leave Southampton - Ronald Koeman

SOUTHAMPTON boss Ronald Koeman concedes the club face an uphill battle trying to retain the services of Nathaniel Clyne.

Manchester United have been tracking the talented 24-year-old right back with Louis van Gaal keen to beef up his defence.

Chelsea are also rumoured to be interested in the £25million-rated star, with Jose Mourinho dispatching scouts to watch him in action.

Though Koeman insists Saints will do everything in their power to keep Clyne on the south Coast, he accepts it might be difficult.

"We are still trying to keep Clyne in the club," Koeman told BBC Radio Solent.

"We know it's not easy as maybe there is some interest.

"At the moment, there is not a serious bid for whichever player in the team, but we'll do everything to keep them."
