The Slovenian, 22, has been a big hit since joining the club on loan in January.

He has scored six goals in 13 appearances, including what proved to be the winner against Hearts last Sunday.

Vuckic has a year left on his Magpies contract but the attacking midfielder is willing to sign a deal with Rangers as he has no desire to return to playing under-21 football.

He said: “It would be a great option for me because I’m really enjoying my football here. I’m scoring goals, playing well and the fans like me.

“This is the happiest I have been for a while with my football because I am playing every week.

“I will have to speak to Newcastle about their plan  then see what is best for me.

“Playing first-team football is very different from the under-21s, where you basically play with the kids. You want to play at a bigger, stronger level.

“It would be a big step backwards if I go back to playing under-21 games with Newcastle.

“I just have to see what happens in the summer.”

Vuckic, who will line up against Queen of the South at Palmerston tonight, says McCall has made a massive difference since taking over as Ibrox manager last month and he would love to continue working with him.

He added: “I have really enjoyed it since he came. We all follow his game-plan and we are winning.

“He came here with a target to put us in the Scottish Premiership.

“On his first day he asked what my preferred position was. I told him behind the striker or right wing.

“In training he gave me and all the players tips on how to play.

“When I first came, the changing room was a bit down because of what was going on here.

“But when you start winning, the players are more motivated, enthusiastic.

“The quality of the training goes up and you can develop more.

“I’m really enjoying my football and I’m training hard. At Newcastle I didn’t have that chance.”
