The Red Devils are believed to be looking for a new centre-back this summer, and reports in Spain claim that the 29-year-old is at the top of Louis van Gaal's wishlist.
United have been linked with a number of stars in recent times including Borussia Dortmund's Mats Hummels and Real Madrid's Raphael Varane.
However, Van Gaal is apparently keen on bringing the experienced Rolando to Old Trafford as a cheaper and more viable option.
Indeed, it is added that United have already made contact with Porto over a summer deal once the Portuguese's loan in Belgium expires.
