MANCHESTER UNITED are bracing themselves for summer offers for striker Robin van Persie after reports emerged two Italian clubs are eyeing the Dutchman.

According to newspaper Tuttosport, both Juventus and Inter are considering their attacking options and have Van Persie on their summer shopping lists.

The clubs value Van Persie at just over £18m, just £6m cheaper than the fee United paid out to Arsenal for their forward in August 2012.

Since joining the Old Trafford club, Van Persie has scored over 50 goals and won the Premier League title in his first season.

However, he has recently been blighted by injury, leading some critics to suggest he may be sold by manager Louis van Gaal this summer.

Indeed, former United defender Paul McGrath told talkSPORT today that he expects the club to shed their 31-year-old front man.

“Robin Van Persie might be off as well, even with the Dutch connection with Van Gaal,” he said.

If United decided to sell Van Persie, he would have no shortage of suitors.

Juventus are seeking to replace Carlos Tevez this summer as the striker returns to South America to see off the final years of his playing career.

And Inter are plotting a summer spending spree and know they are likely to have to replace Mauro Icardi, 22, who is set to leave for one of Europe’s elite sides come July.
