Chelsea made to WAIT one more year to sell £9.5m flop midfielder Mohamed Salah

CHELSEA must wait another season to sell midfielder Mohamed Salah after Fiorentina reportedly chose to extend his loan deal today.

Chelsea 2-1 Stoke: Jose Mourinho made to sweat over Costa injury

Sarah, 22, is on a six-month loan at the Florence side after falling out of favour with Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho.

And, having been impressed by his seven goals in 12 games this spring, Fiorentina have decided to exercise a one-year loan extension that will see Salah at the club until the summer of 2016.

Only then will Fiorentina consider paying the £9.5million fee reportedly agreed upon to secure Salah on a permanent basis.

Fiorentina will pay £1.5m for the loan extension but the decision could still frustrate Mourinho, who is seeking to raise funds this summer ahead of a busy transfer window.

Mourinho has preached in previous windows of Chelsea’s need to sell players before bringing others in as they strive to appease UEFA’s Financial Fair Play regulations.

They sold David Luiz and Romelu Lukaku, among others, last summer for over £75m before signing Diego Costa, Felipe Luis and Loic Remy, while in January Andre Schurrle was sold to Wolfsburg in order to pay for Juan Cuadrado’s £26.8m arrival.

Salah was an £11m acquisition in January 2014 but started just six league games for the Blues before being shipped out to Italy.
