Harry Kane: Burnley's Danny Ings is good enough for the senior England squad

TOTTENHAM striker Harry Kane believes he will strike up a profitable partnership with Danny Ings with England Under-21s this summer and hinted the Burnley man could soon follow him into the senior squad.

Kane’s form this season has seen him score 19 goals in the Premier League to share a lead at the top of the goalscoring charts with Chelsea’s Diego Costa.

Kane has overshadowed, among others, Ings, who has so far managed to find the net nine times on his debut season in the top flight which has helped to give the Clarets a hope of survival.

Neither Ings nor Kane were unable to add to their respective tallies when they were on opposing sides during a drab 0-0 draw on Sunday.

But Kane is confident Ings and himself can combine well at the Under-21 European Championships in the Czech Republic in June.

“Danny’s a great player,” said Kane.

“He scores goals, his movement’s great and he’s a prospect for English football. I know him well from the Under 21s.

“Can he step up to the seniors? It’s down to the boss (to pick him) and we’ve both got to keep working hard, as do the other strikers who are trying to get a place.

“There are a lot of great English strikers here at the moment, which is good for the country. There’s competition. We’ve all got to work hard to retain our place.”
