Edwards’ neat header at the death scuppered a spirited Leeds United comeback after Alex Mowatt’s goal appeared to have earned them a point.

Nouha Dicko’s double and a Benik Afobe strike had made it 3-1 to Wolves early in the second half after Leeds had somewhat fortunately taken the lead through 21-year-old Charlie Taylor’s first club goal.

An own goal from Wolves defender Danny Batth and Mowatt’s determined surge brought the scores level before Edwards’ last-gasp winner.

The result comes at the end of a torrid few days for Leeds head coach Neil Redfearn, who is considering his position at the club after assistant Steve Thompson was suspended by the board, before they crashed to a 3-0 home defeat to Blackburn on Saturday.

As for Wolves, the win boosts manager Kenny Jackett’s ambitions of sneaking into the Championship playoff positions with just five games in the season remaining.
