Man Utd News: Hummels on Arsenal bid, Ronaldo SHOCK move, Mata warning

MATS HUMMELS says he is considering a move to the Premier League, with Manchester United and Arsenal in line to bid for the defender.

Hummels, 26, was wanted by United manager Louis van Gaal last summer but opted to stay at Borussia Dortmund for another season.

And reports have emerged that the centre-half is now ready to leave the Bundesliga, with the draw of Champions League football and experience playing overseas major factors in his decision.

The player said he is “reflecting” on his future, stating: "There's no particular tendency one way or the other. It's just thoughts going through my mind. It will all become clearer in the coming weeks."

Meanwhile, former United star Cristiano Ronaldo has been linked to a shock move to America.

Cristiano, 30, has been invited by Brazil legend Ronaldo to join him at American second-tier side Fort Lauderdale Strikers.

It would be a huge demotion for Portuguese ace Cristiano, who yesterday scored five goals in Real Madrid’s 9-1 pummelling of Granada.

But Ronaldo insists the franchise that he co-owns could one day land the global superstar.

"The sky is the limit for the Strikers. This club will be great. Why not (Lionel) Messi, why not Cristiano Ronaldo? In a few years' time we will be able to make it happen,” he said.

"Nothing is impossible. The US is the second fastest growing country in the world in terms of football, after China.

“A lot of famous players will want to come and play in South Florida because of the quality of life. Who wouldn't want to live here?"

In club news, midfielder Ander Herrera says he dreams of staying at Old Trafford for years to come.

Herrera scored twice in United’s 3-1 win over Aston Villa last weekend to take his season tally to seven.

And the £29million summer signing from Bilbao says he wants to improve further at the club.

"I’m very happy," he said. "Even when I was not playing, I was also happy. I am at Manchester United.

“I feel really lucky to be here. The manager has to decide who is playing or not but we have to respect always the decision he makes.

“The manager wants the best for the team, the best for us and we have to follow him always.”

And finally, Juan Mata has warned rivals Manchester City his side will hit them for six in their efforts to secure Champions League qualification for next season.

Mata wrote on his blog that United want to overhaul City and finish at least second this season, a task that starts with beating Manuel Pellegrini’s men next weekend.

United are seeking a sixth straight victory and Mata said: “Winning the derby against City on Sunday could be very important for the battle in the top four.

"A derby is always special and we must be careful with City’s attacking players, because they can win the game in an isolated play."
