Jordan Henderson has rejected a new deal at Liverpool

Raheem Sterling spoke out last week to insist that his Liverpool future won't be decided by money, despite turning down £100,000-a-week.

Sterling has two years left on his current contract, but Henderson's situation is more pressing because he has only 12 months remaining at the end of the current campaign.

But the former Sunderland star - considered by many to be Liverpool captain-in-waiting with Steven Gerrard set to depart - has also so far stalled over penning fresh terms at the Merseyside club.

According to the Daily Star, Henderson has rejected an offer of £80,000-a-week to remain at the club.

And that has reportedly put Chelsea on alert, with Jose Mourinho weighing up a move for the 24-year-old.

Henderson insisted on Saturday that Liverpool can still make the top four this season despite a humiliating loss to Arsenal.

He said: "We knew it would be tough to make top four even before we came here.

"We have to keep fighting and working and if we win our games left them you never know."
