Liverpool and Chelsea blow with Theo Walcott to begin talks over new Arsenal deal

LIVERPOOL and Chelsea are set to be knocked back over Theo Walcott, as he will kickstart talks over a new deal with Arsenal.

Theo Walcott Player Profile

Walcott, who has one year left to run on his current contract, takes home around £100,000 a week.

The 26-year-old, who is no longer an automatic starter, was an unused substitute in the Gunners' 4-1 thrashing of Liverpool at the Emirates yesterday.

Although his future appeared to be in the balance, The Sun claim Walcott will be brought to the negotiating table.

Wenger it is believed, is hoping to begin talks with Walcott in the next fortnight.

Liverpool and Chelsea are among the clubs who have made enquiries over Walcott's availability.

Arsenal have been keeping a close eye on Raheem Sterling, who failed to make an impact for the visiting team at the Emirates.

But with rumours abounding in recent weeks of a potential swap deal involving Walcott and Sterling, these might be put to bed soon.
