Charlie Adam score a cracker for Stoke against Chelsea

The nomadic midfielder fired home from around 65 yards late in the 44th minute after seeing Thibaut Courtois off his line.

The Belgium shotstopper managed to get a hand to the shot as he ran back towards goal but was unable to prevent the ball from pinging into the back of the net.

Many pundits and fans flooded Twitter to praise the former Liverpool and Blackpool star, with Michael Owen tweeting: "Take a bow @Charle26Adam. Sensational!"

Rio Ferdinand was rudely interrupted as he hailed QPR's terrific 4-1 win over West Brom earlier in the day, saying: "Great result today away at West Brom....hold up...Charlie Adam take a bow...what a strike!"

Adam is famed for his ability to strike a ball sweetly, and former Reds teammate Jamie Carragher teased the Scotsman following the strike.

He exclaimed: "Charlie Adam!!!!! He tried that shot from the halfway line 3 times a game at Lfc about bloody time!"
