Olivier Giroud celebrates his sixth goal in six games

Arsenal forced Simon Mignolet into a series of important saves early on as Liverpool struggled to cope with the start by the Gunners.

Hector Bellerin eventually got the breakthrough which started a sequence of three goals in eight minutes as Mesut Ozil and Alexis also got their names on the score sheet.

Giroud then sealed victory with a fine curling effort in stoppage time as Arsene Wenger's men closed the gap behind Premier League leaders Chelsea.

After the match, the French striker admitted Arsenal could have had even more goals in the first half and says his team-mates are remaining cautious about their chances of catching the Blues.

He said: "Liverpool lost the ball a lot at the back in the first half and we could have scored even more goals in the first 45 minutes, but we were obviously really pleased to back in dressing room 3-0.

"We want to finish strongly but we have to take it game by game and focus on ourselves before looking at Chelsea and Man City's results. We want to win every single game and then we'll see what happens."
