TRANSFER NEWS: Man Utd close in on Hummels, Chelsea get Icardi boost

Manchester United are closing in on a deal for Mats Hummels, according to the Daily Mirror.

A source close to the Germany camp said: “He is preparing his exit and he gave some of the players signs that his transfer is close.”

And Hummels himself recently admitted it was an ambition to move abroad.

Hummels said: “I think moving abroad will be good for my professional and personal well-being. Eventually, I’d like to leave the Bundesliga.

“I’m being open about this because I’m not a fan of those who claim they are staying but, behind the scenes, have actually secretly agreed a transfer away from their current club.

“Everyone knows how much I love it at Dortmund, but I also want to make sure I’m part of a strong team with powerful players.”

Chelsea target Mauro Icardi has put the Blues on alert by admitting he would leave if an offer came in.

“If there are other clubs who want me, they should discuss this with Inter," he said.

"If Inter decide to sell me, I’ll pack up and go away.

“If they don’t want to, I will stay in Milan where I am really good and I’m happy. My family here feels like home.

“Regarding my pay, my salary, that I don’t ‘earn a lot’, these are things that are a result of two years ago when I came to Inter.”
