Arsenal ace Danny Welbeck facing injury race ahead of Liverpool clash

DANNY WELBECK is facing a race against time to be fit for Arsenal's crunch clash with Liverpool.

Arsenal host Liverpool at the Emirates on Saturday (12.45pm) for a key game in deciding who will make the top four.

But according to reports, striker Welbeck is a doubt for Arsene Wenger's men.

Welbeck sustained a knee injury during England's 4-0 Euro 2016 qualifier win over Lithuania on Friday - in which he scored.

Danny Welbeck is a doubt for Arsenal's clash with Liverpool

The 24-year-old has been ruled out of the friendly against Italy tonight (7.45pm) and has returned to Arsenal.

However, Welbeck has not been ruled out for the visit of Liverpool and will reportedly undergo a late fitness test to determine his involvement.

Meanwhile, the Reds are sweating on the fitness of striker Daniel Sturridge.

Anfield's medical department do not think the hip injury that has caused the 25-year-old to miss international duty is too serious and are pushing for him to play against Arsenal.
