Liverpool launch £15m swoop for England hopeful

Hughes has impressed in Derby's midfield and has been tipped for England senior honours.

And according to the Daily Star, Liverpool are ready to offer £15m for Hughes this summer.

Derby are fifth in the Championship but with no win in six games could slide out of the promotion places.

And that could prompt Reds boss Brendan Rodgers to swoop for Hughes.

Last year Rodgers downplayed talk of a move for Hughes but admitted he was interested in the London-born youngster.

"I read we had put in a bid or something had been agreed but there has been nothing," he said.

"I think he is a wonderful young talent who just needs to play football and for me he is probably at the best place he could be."

"I don't normally comment on speculation but [I will] because I have the interest of the player at heart."
