STUART McCALL last night denied any fall-out with Kris Boyd after the striker failed to make Rangers’ matchday squad for the second week in a row.

Kris Boyd has been kept out of Rangers' squad for two weeks now

Boyd, right, missed the 4-1 win over Cowdenbeath at Ibrox yesterday after being left out of the win at Hibs last week.

“There’s not been a problem with him,” said McCall. “If I am not starting either Kris or Jon Daly, I don’t feel I need both of them on the bench.

“Kris played in my first game and Jon came on against Alloa and made an impact, so it would be difficult to leave Jon out of the squad at the moment.

“If, for some reason, I had played Jon Daly and Kenny Miller up front today then Boydie would have been on the bench.

I just don’t feel I need Boydie and Jon Daly as substitutes

“I just don’t feel I need Boydie and Jon Daly as substitutes – and likewise to an extent Kyle Hutton and Ian Black.

“But Kris came in before the game and trained with the kids – Ian Durrant said he was terrific, so no problem. I explained it to him and he’s fully committed to everything we are trying to do here – it was as simple as that.

“For the game at Easter Road, we didn’t want to take him to a hotel overnight if he wasn’t going to be involved.”

McCall added: “Boydie’s attitude since I have walked in the door has been first class. He trains as hard as he can and he will continue to do that because that’s the type of person he is.”
