EXPRESS SPORT brings you England's player ratings from their clash with Lithuania.

Harry KanePA

Harry Kane made an instant impact

Joe HART 6

Rarely called upon but was quick off line when needed and commanded his area well. One of the easiest nights of his England career.

Nathaniel CLYNE 6

Almost got caught out early on. Not his usual aggressive Southampton self and did not get forward enough. Oddly subdued and looked nervy.

Gary CAHILL 6

Looked steady and solid despite having little to do. Cool covering when he had to but under very little pressure. Commanding in the air.

Phil JONES 7

Fine tackle to stop the burly Matulevicius in the first half. Steady and dealt with physical challenge well. But one or two passes went astray.

Leighton BAINES 7

Plenty of good early crosses. Linked well with Delph. Foraged well throughout the game and got forward better than Clyne.

Michael CARRICK 7

As ever, kept the ball well and kept England ticking. Stayed deep, allowing Henderson and Delph to roam. A couple of fine interceptions.

Fabian DELPH 6

Linked well with Baines but kept running into blind alleys. Volley brilliantly saved but too often played too deep. Disappointing.

Jordan HENDERSON 7

Worked ferociously hard covering. Probed forward well and got a couple of shots in. Always dangerous around the area and looking for openings.

Raheem STERLING 7

Lively and some good runs early on but not penetrating enough. Better in the second half as he got into the right areas and took his goal well.

Wayne ROONEY 7

Hit the post twice and nodded his 47th goal for England, his sixth in five internationals. Lively all night and put in good cross for Sterling’s goal.

Danny WELBECK 8

Seemed inspired by threat of Kane. Linked well with Rooney and made some good runs. Deserved his deflected goal for sheer endeavour.
