EXCLUSIVE: Chelsea eye up move for Tottenham outcast Emmanuel Adebayor

CHELSEA are considering a summer move for Tottenham misfit Emmanuel Adebayor.

Didier Drogba Player Profile

Didier Drogba is expected to leave Stamford Bridge at the end of this campaign after acting as back-up striker this season behind Diego Costa and Loic Remy and manager Jose Mourinho wants another experienced emergency stand in.

Mourinho worked with Adebayor at Real Madrid in 2011 when he signed the Togo star on a six-month loan deal, so he knows the 31-year-old well. Adebayor scored eight goals in 22 games at the Bernabeu.

The Spurs striker has made only 10 appearances this season, scoring two goals and has fallen out of favour with manager Mauricio Pochettino.

West Ham were close to signing Adebayor during the January transfer window but Spurs chairman Daniel Levy blocked the move, much to the player’s fury.

Adebayor, who wants to stay in London, will have a year left of his Tottenham contract at the end of this season.

West Ham are expected to come back in again with an offer of a year-long loan but Chelsea would be prepared to pay a bargain fee to buy up the rest of his contract, as well covering his £100,000-a-week wages.

Chelsea are expected to bring in another front-line striker to help Costa, with Inter Milan forward Mauro Icardi high on their list of targets, Palermo’s Paulo Dybala or Douglas Costa of Shakhtar Donetsk.
