Theo Walcott is yet to pen a new deal with Arsenal

The former Welsh international believes Wenger has done right by Walcott throughout his injuries and its time for him to return the favour.

The Gunners boss admitted that he expects contract talks to drag out with the 26-year-old for some time, as they did in 2013.

And Liverpool are already rumoured to be interested in signing the England international, who will have just 12 months to run on his current deal by the summer.

I know there is not a lot of loyalty in football but sometimes it is nice when you see players give back to the club

Hartson told talkSPORT: "He is on big money at Arsenal and they have looked after him.

"When he was out for a long period injured, they looked after him and nurtured him back.

"I know there is not a lot of loyalty in football but sometimes it is nice when you see players give back to the club that have put them where they are."
