Arsenal, Chelsea and Man Utd dealt summer BLOW for Real Madrid star

ROBERTO DI MATTEO admits the 'door is open' for Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira to join Schalke in the summer.

The 27-year-old's deal at Real is set to expire in May, with no signs of talks over an extension.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United have been keeping tabs on the Germany international's availability this season, but now face competition from Schalke.

However, Di Matteo insists it will be a challenge for any club to win the race for Khedira's signature. 

“For [Khedira], the door's open,” Di Matteo said on the speculation.

“Any coach would want him, but he has plenty of choices so I think it'll be very difficult to bring him here.”

While the World Cup winner has already revealed he will leave Real at the end of the season, but admits it won't be an easy decision.

“I love Real Madrid and it will be hard to leave this club,” Khedira said last week. 

“I will give everything for this shirt until the last day of my contract, there should be no doubt about that.”
