John Terry offers advice to next Chelsea captain after signing one-year extension

CHELSEA captain John Terry has offered valuable advice to the next leader at Stamford Bridge.

Terry yesterday signed a one-year contract extension with the Blues, committing to the Premier League leaders until the end of the 2015-16 season.

The 34-year-old's existing deal was set to expire at the end of this season and the new contract is in line with Chelsea's policy of offering those over the age of 30 only one-year deals.

But when Terry does eventually leave Stamford Bridge, the former England defender advices his successor not to dwell too much on the losses.

That would be the advice I would give: that things move on quickly and you can make amends

When asked what advice he would offer, he replied: "One of the best questions ever! I think as I’ve got older I’ve learned to deal with losing.

"When I was younger we’d lose a game and I would not go out of the house for literally three or four days. It’s different now I’ve got a family and kids, and you have to get up and about, take them to school. Before I would shut myself away.

"That would be the advice I would give: that things move on quickly and you can make amends. That is the Chelsea way. It’s what we’ve grown to know."
