WAYNE ROONEY has praised Manchester United team-mate Michael Carrick and believes it is great having him back in the England fold.

Wayne Rooney Player Profile

Carrick has been plagued by a combination of calf and muscle problems and missed the start of United's Premier League campaign this season.

The 33-year-old last played for England 18 months ago.

And Rooney thinks Carrick's call-up for the Euro 2016 qualifier tomorrow against Lithuania (7.45pm) and the friendly against Italy on Tuesday (7.45pm) is richly deserved.
