Roy Hodgson: I have NOT decided whether or not Raheem Sterling will face Italy

ENGLAND boss Roy Hodgson has stressed he hasn't made a final decision as to whether or not Liverpool star Raheem Sterling will start against Italy.

The Three Lions first host Lithuania tomorrow in a Euro 2016 qualifier (7.45pm) before facing the Italians in a friendly on Tuesday (also 7.45pm).

Sterling has been hampered with a toe injury and it was thought he would return to Liverpool after the Lithuania game.

Hodgson found himself at loggerheads with Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers earlier in the season when Daniel Sturridge was ruled out for five months after sustaining a thigh injury during an England training session.

But Hodgson claims he hasn't decided whether Sterling will be rested against Italy.

If it goes well tomorrow night, the wise thing might be to give someone else a chance

"I haven't decided upon [Sterling being rested for the Italy game], there's an obvious case for him and James Milner who's been playing for quite a while now with a knee problem," Hodgson said.

"There are those two and others who we will have to take a very serious look at.

"In Raheem's case he needs some specific treatment and who knows, if it goes well tomorrow night, the wise thing might be to give someone else a chance."

Hodgson goes into tomorrow night's match having won 21 of his 37 games in charge of England.
