MARTIN SKRTEL insists he has a clean conscience over his stamp on David De Gea.

Skrtel was charged by the FA and has been banned for three games following a failed appeal after the incident on Sunday.

The Liverpool defender left his boot on the Man United keeper's leg while chasing down a through ball in the last act of the game.

Yesterday, having had his ban upheld, Skrtel posted an Instagram picture of clowns, but the FA are not expected to take further action.

I didn't want to stamp on him. It was an accident and I didn't do it on purpose. I don't feel guilty

And today he has issued a statement.

"It feels strange because we appealed against those charges and still I was hit by a three-match ban," he wrote on his personal website martin-skrtel.com.

"I didn't want to stamp on him. It was an accident and I didn't do it on purpose. I don't feel guilty.

"It was a long ball and he went towards me and I wanted to jump over him. Simple as that."
