Jose Mourinho lifts lid on how Chelsea used Loic Remy after Diego Costa limped off at Hull

JOSE MOURINHO has praised Loic Remy for his adaptability in Chelsea's 3-2 win over Hull City last weekend.

Substitute Remy came on for the injured Diego Costa to score the winner on Humberside and maintain the Blues' six-point lead at the top of the Premier League table.

The France forward was all set to play alongside with Costa for the final minutes of the match but his team-mate limped off the field with a hamstring tear.

And Mourinho has revealed how Remy had to quickly change his game plan to get in position for the winning strike.

"What I told him was that he was going to be playing with Diego together, and I told him the spaces where I wanted him to go so everything I told him was about playing with Diego,’ he told Chelsea TV.

"Suddenly Diego is injured and is out and it is a different game and different positional play for Loic because he is playing as a lone striker.

"But we were creating from the sides and the cross came and then his pass to the goal, because it was not a shot, it was a pass, was great for us and great for him because he deserves that."

Costa has been ruled out of Spain's Euro 2016 clash with Ukraine this Friday and a friendly trip to the Netherlands the following Tuesday because of his hamstring tear.
