Argentine winger Eduardo Salvio plots new contract to force through Liverpool transfer

BENFICA'S young winger Eduardo Silva is ready to sign a new contract at the club with a lower buy-out clause in order to force a move to Liverpool this summer.

Silva, 21, is wanted but the Reds and Juventus and has a release clause of around £40million, according to the Liverpool Echo.

However, neither of his suitors are willing to match that fee and so Silva will begin negotiating a contract to bring it down to a level that reflects his value.

In doing so, however, he increases the chances of other major European clubs swooping in for his services, meaning Liverpool will have to act fast to land their man come July.

Eduardo Salvio is expected to leave Benfica this summer

Salvio has scored 10 goals in 29 appearances for Benfica this season, playing in five of their six Champions League group games.

Manchester United were also reportedly in for the ace but backed out when Juve showed their interest and appear to be seeking other midfield recruits before the start of the new season.

Tottenham, meanwhile, sent scouts to watch the player in Benfica's 3-0 win over Vitoria last month.
