Manchester United's £36m transfer target FINALLY ready to accept a summer deal

MANCHESTER UNITED are closing in on a £36m deal for Mats Hummels.

The Germany defender, according to the Daily Mail, has finally decided to cut his ties with Borussia Dortmund.

Hummels joined Dortmund in 2009 after an initial loan spell from Bayern Munich.

And has since turned into one of the most revered defenders in world football.

He helped Germany to win their first World Cup since 1990 last summer.

And has been a key log in Jurgen Klopp's side who reached the final of the Champions League in 2013, and the quarter-finals last term.

This year, however, has been a difficult one for Hummels and Dortmund.

Dortmund flirted with relegation and sat bottom of the Bundesliga after 19 games and were eliminated in the last-16 stage of the Champions League last week by Juventus.

And it seems Hummels is ready for his big move.

Louis van Gaal has been interested in the 26-year-old since he took over from David Moyes as United manager.

And the Dutchman is keen to strengthen his defensive unit this summer.

And with United now in pole position to claim the final Champions League place a deal for Hummels - even at the £36m asking price - could be done.
