The centre-back joined the Gunners in January from Villarreal for £11million, and has made four appearances in the process.

Brazil take on Chile at the Emirates in a friendly on March 29, with Alexis Sanchez also set to be involved.

Injuries to Paris Saint-Germain duo David Luiz and Marquinhos saw Dunga bring Gabriel into the fold, and speaking to Arsenal's official website, the defender revealed that it is 'a dream' to be part of the Brazil set-up.

He said: "I am very happy with the news, and it is a dream for any player to wear the shirt of your country.

"I'll play the best possible way. It is a valuable opportunity and I hope that it is the first call of many.

"It will be an incentive for me to continue working hard at Arsenal. It will not be easy, because the Brazilian team has great quality, but I will work hard to get my place in the team."
