Ronald Koeman: I'm not thinking about the Champions League race with Liverpool and Man Utd

After their summer exodus of players, Saints were expected to endure a difficult season. 

However, new boss Koeman has turned their fortunes around with an impressive performance this term picking up a win against Manchester United at Old Trafford and holding Chelsea level both home and away.  

And while Champions League ambitions are held high among supports and critics alike, the Southampton boss is keen to keep his feet on the ground with realistic expectations.

"No, we don’t think too much to the Champions League," said Koeman after Southampton's 2-0 win over Burnley.  

"We hope that the seventh place on the table maybe that means European football and that will be fantastic for us.

"Of course the Champions league is amazing to play and be involved but we know our situation and we know our qualities and if it’s Europa League then that will be great for us."
