Loic Remy runs over to the bench after hitting the winner

Mourinho brought on Loic Remy for Diego Costa 17 minutes from time and it had the desired effect as he hit the winner to help Chelsea re-establish a six-point lead at the summit of the Premier League table.

Chelsea were held at home to Southampton last weekend, but they came flying out of the traps against the Premier League strugglers.

Eden Hazard drew first blood for the visitors after two minutes when he jinked past a couple of defenders before flashing a sweet left-footed strike past Allan McGregor.

The Blues doubled their lead seven minutes later when Costa turned Michael Dawson inside out before bending a superb effort into the bottom corner of the net.

But Hull capitalised on some slack Chelsea defending when they pulled one back in the 26th minute after Ahmed Elmohamady scrambled home from close range.

They levelled up two minutes later when Abel Hernandez slid his shot past Thibaut Courtois.

Courtois pulled off a stunning triple save in the second half before Remy had the final say when his shot squirmed under McGregor's legs.
