Louis van Gaal wants Rio Ferdinand BACK at Manchester United

MANCHESTER UNITED are said to be interested in bringing Rio Ferdinand back to Old Trafford to head up a coaching revolution.

The Daily Mirror claim that Louis van Gaal has plans for an Ajax-style coaching system with a heavy focus on youth development.

And Ferdinand is said to be at the forefront of Van Gaal's plans once he finishes his playing days with QPR this summer.

The former centre-back has been lined up for a coaching and development role, working with young defenders and United's first team regulars.

And Ryan Giggs feels this is a good move by the manager to tap into the club's wealth of knowledge and experience.

Van Gaal has also earmarked Michael Carrick for a 'trainer coach' role after the midfielder put pen to paper on a new one-year deal.

The Red Devil's former striker Brian McClair is set to bring his 13-year spell with the club to an end in May, paving the way for Van Gaal to reshape the club.
