MANCHESTER CITY moved within three points of league leaders Chelsea with a comfortable win over West Brom.
The game was immediately thrown into controversy with Gareth McAuley wrongly being sent off after 90 seconds for the visitors.
Referee Neil Swarbrick showed the red to McAuley when in fact it should have been Craig Dawson who should have been walking.
Wilfried Bony gave City the lead on 27 minutes, his first for his new club, and that paved the way for a dominant afternoon for the Sky Blues.
Fernando followed up on 40 minutes with City's second, slotting the ball home from close range after a mistake from Jonas Olsson.
The game was then put even further from doubt when David Silva added a third on 77 minutes.
City ran out comfortable winners in the end, capitalising on the early sending off with 78 per cent possession and 43 shots at goal.
