Mauricio Pochettino: Man Utd defeat made this my easiest week as Tottenham boss

TOTTENHAM head coach Mauricio Pochettino believes this week’s preparations for today’s visit of Leicester have been the most straightforward of his time at the club – for the wrong reasons.

Pochettino's side are four points behind Liverpool in the hunt for the top four

His players’ performances at Manchester United last weekend, which ended in a 3-0 defeat, were so bad that none of them could complain if they were to be dropped.

“This week I didn’t need to speak too much,” Pochettino said. “It’s an easy week because we are all agreed about what happened in the game at Old Trafford so it’s easy to fix that.

“We were all disappointed after the game, we know how we need to change, so for me, after nine months here, it was one of the easiest weeks.”

Tottenham v Leicester - Premier League Preview

A four-point gap between Tottenham, who are level with Southampton, and Liverpool, who occupy the final European spot, has emerged and Pochettino know his side cannot afford to slip up against the Premier league’s bottom team.

The Foxes have already won at White Hart Lane this season, in the FA Cup, but have struggled since then.

“Leicester in the last few games have played in a different way from when we played against them in the FA Cup, they have changed the system,” Pochettino said. “We are expecting a different team.

“For us it’s important to show the last result against Manchester United doesn’t affect us. We expect a very tough, important game because we have nine games left and it’s important to start to win points.”
