Hull boss Steve Bruce ATTACKS Riyad Mahrez for “rolling around”

HULL boss Steve Bruce has blasted Leicester winger Riyad Mahrez for “rolling around” during last week’s 0-0 draw at the King Power Stadium.

Hull v Chelsea - Premier League Preview

Hull have been charged by the FA for failing to control their players after the Tigers surrounded referee Jon Moss as Alex Bruce was booked for the challenge.

Bruce felt his son had made a good tackle and accused Leicester of trying to get Alex sent off.

Bruce senior said: “All of my players were trying to protect Alex. I’ve got huge respect for Mahrez, he’s a very good player but the way he rolled around the pitch is something we have to stamp out.

“He was blatantly trying to get someone sent off.

“When you’re injured you can’t roll around like that, because you can’t. They wanted to get Alex sent off.

“We surrounded the ref because there was an injustice and we will vigorously contest it.

“In this country, we enjoy seeing people tackle as much as we enjoy seeing a wonderful piece of ability.”

Hull face Chelsea on Sunday but will be without top-scorer Nikica Jelavic.

The Croatian striker has undergone a knee operation and Bruce fears his season is over.

Bruce said: “If we’re going to be truly honest, it was pretty evident that is was still troubling him.

“That’s come to a head a last week he couldn’t really train properly.

“He’s brave and tough and there’s only him who would have carried on with it.

“We hope he’ll do his best to play a part but realistically it’s going to be at least six weeks, which might mean it’s the end of his season.”
