The striker has been named in the senior squad for the Euro 2016 qualifier at home to Lithuania on Friday March 27 and the friendly in Italy the following Tuesday.

The 21-year-old is also eligible for Gareth Southgate's Under-21s squad, who are in the European Championship finals in June.

Pochettino has already warned he fears the 26-goal hit-man could suffer from burn-out if he doesn't get a decent summer break.

And he will tell Hodgson that when the Three Lions boss brings his senior squad to Tottenham's Enfield training base next Thursday.

He said: "It is a good opportunity for us as they plan to train here and it's a good opportunity to share a moment, chat, speak a little bit, not only about Harry Kane but about different aspects of football.

"Always we try to find the best for the player. After we need to understand every position but I think we have a very good relationship.

"We need to give our opinion and after take a decision.

"When I came to England to be manager of Southampton always our relationship was good and I think he respects me and I have full respect for him."

Pochettino wasn't impressed with Hodgson's decision to leave out left-back Danny Rose.

Three left-sided defenders - Leighton Baines, Luke Shaw and Kieran Gibbs - were named but Pochettino stood by his earlier claim that Rose was better than all of them.

He said: "Always I have full respect for his decision. You need to ask him why he picked different players and not Danny.

"I have not changed my opinion. For me he is the best English left-back.

About performance he showed he is the best but after it's Roy's opinion and his decision."
