Charlie Austin deserved England call-up over Harry Kane, claims Chris Ramsey

QPR manager Chris Ramsey believes his striker Charlie Austin has done more to deserve an England call-up over Tottenham's Harry Kane.

Harry Kane Player Profile

Austin has bagged 15 of QPR's 30 Premier League goals this term, just one less than Kane.

But Ramsey believes Austin deserves more recognition for his efforts in a struggling Loftus Road side, who sit second from bottom in the standings.

Meanwhile, Kane has benefitted from being in a squad riding high in seventh.

Kane has 10 Under-21 caps to his name, but now he will get a chance to prove himself at senior international level after being named in the squad for the double header against Lithuania and Italy.

Charlie has been fantastic this season

Chris Ramsey

"Charlie has been fantastic this season," said Ramsey.

"I think he has done more than Harry Kane because he is in a team which is struggling.

"Charlie’s work rate is unbelievable and he has the uncoachable thing, which is scoring goals.

"He’s the kind of quality player who will shine wherever he plays."
