Roberto Martinez: I'm not concerned about Dynamo Kiev’s pitch

ROBERTO MARTINEZ insists he has no concerns over the state of Dynamo Kiev’s pitch despite Everton training on the track at the Olimpiyskiy Stadium in Ukraine.

Roberto Martinez: Everton have turned a corner

The Toffees did not make use of the poor surface ahead of tomorrow night’s Europa League last-16 second-leg tie.

They instead underwent a cardio session on the running track around the pitch as they prepare to defend a 2-1 lead from the first leg.

But despite not being able to work on the pitch – which is standard practice on the eve of a European game – Martinez is not concerned.

The Everton boss said: “Obviously the pitch is a concern for both teams, so I don't think it will play a big part.

“It's a little bit of a shame for the game of football. We are teams who enjoy having the ball and the technical side of the game.

“It is a shame it is not in perfect condition, but you play whatever pitch you play on.”

Martinez confirmed Kevin Mirallas is out of the clash with Kiev because of a dead leg picked up in the first leg.

They will make a decision on Aiden McGeady’s fitness in the morning as he recovers from a knee injury.

John Stones is over a bug and can start as the Toffees go in search for a Europa League quarter-final spot.
