City are 2-1 down heading into the second leg of their last-16 Champions League tie with Barca, who have beaten the English champions in all three previous meetings.

They fielded two strikers in the first leg at he Etihad, with Edin Dzeko playing alongside Argentine ace Sergio Aguero.

Aguero scored for the home side but only after Luis Suarez had netted a double for Barca.

And Hoddle believes City cannot afford to miss out in midfield tonight by starting two strikers.

"They've got to get a result and they are not learning from their lessons. If he (Manuel Pellegrini) goes with two up front, I fear for them," he told Sky Sports.

"What they've got to do is play more savvy and get runners from midfield, but I wouldn't be surprised if they go with two up front.

"At some stage, they are going to have to go for it and I fear they might get a hammering if they do and when they do, whether it's from the start or at some stage."
