Chris Coleman BACKS Manchester United target Gareth Bale to come good for Madrid and Wales

WALES manager Chris Coleman has backed under-fire winger Gareth Bale to rediscover his form at club side Real Madrid.

Gareth Bale Player Profile

Bale has come under increasing scrutiny from Real fans after failing to score in nine outings - form that has led to reports he could be sold to Manchester United this summer.

He hit back with a winning double against Levante last weekend and celebrated the goals by covering his ears with his hands, suggesting he isn't listening to criticism sent his way.

And Coleman, who will have Bale in his squad for Wales' Euro 2016 qualifier with Israel next week, accepts the pressure is on his star player to perform each week.

"Gareth is a big boy and he'll come through all this," said Coleman.

"When you play for Madrid you have to win and entertain every time you go on to the pitch.

"Winning and not playing well is not acceptable. The stakes are high. But he got a couple of goals last weekend - he'll be fine."

United have reportedly made Bale their top transfer target of the summer, with Louis van Gaal free to spend his £150million treasure hoard.

Bale was sold to Madrid from Tottenham just two years ago for a world record £85m fee.

And United are expected to have to meet that price to stand a chance of landing the 25-year-old.
