Man Utd stars have IMPROVED since Louis van Gaal replaced David Moyes - Ashley Young

ASHLEY YOUNG believes Manchester United have definitely improved since Louis van Gaal took over from David Moyes in the summer.

Liverpool v Manchester United - Premier League Preview

The Red Devils failed to qualify for the Champions League last season under Moyes, who was sacked before the end of the campaign.

United are now on track to return to Europe's elite competition as they sit fourth in the Premier League standings, and Young has credited Van Gaal's influence.

The race for a top-four finish is far from over, however, with only four points separating fifth-place Liverpool and second-place Manchester City.

"There are obviously players in the team who have improved," Young said.

"When the manager asked us to do a job at the start of the season, he was honest and truthful in what he wanted to do.

"We all wanted to impress, especially when he came in during pre-season as a new manager.

"Everybody wants to do well and we’ve kicked on from there.

"We’ve now come down to the business end of the season and this is where it is vitally important to pick up points until the end."
