Liverpool are said to be monitoring Manchester United target Eduardo Salvio, according to the Daily Mirror.

The 24-year-old is having an impressive season at Portuguese league leaders Benfica, who are keen to extend his current deal which runs until 2017.

However, Salvio's agent is trying to push for a lowering of his release clause, that currently stands at £43.1million, in return for penning a new deal.
