Arsenal told they MUST sign Southampton's Schneiderlin to make title push next season

The Gunners went out of the Champions League at the hands of Monaco, despite a 2-0 win in the second-leg of their last 16 tie last night.

But Parlour continues to believe that the Premier League should remain the top priority for the Gunners.

And the former star says Schneiderlin is exactly the type of player Wenger needs to enable his side to take the next step.

He told talkSPORT: “Arsenal need to get Morgan Schneiderlin if he’s available in the summer.

“He would be perfect. He’s a little bit like Gilberto Silva when he was at Arsenal. He can sit back into the back four and, when it’s wide, he can be another centre half. That’s so good if you can do that.

“He’s so comfortable on the ball and someone like him would be a great addition."

But Parlour believes that at least one other signing is required to enable Arsenal to make a title push next term.

He added: “There has to be big investment at Arsenal this summer.

“The Premier League is more important than the Champions League.

“In Europe, sometimes, you need a bit of luck along the way but the league doesn’t lie. The most consistent team always win it, that’s what they’ve got to look at.

“They need to be challenging Chelsea and Man City, along with Liverpool and Manchester United next season.

“He’s got to go and buy two top class players and really add to the squad. Then maybe they can challenge for the league title next season.”
