Simon Mignolet: Liverpool on track for Champions League spot ahead of Man Utd clash

SIMON MIGNOLET believes Liverpool are on track to reach a Champions League qualification spot as they head into Sunday's showdown with Manchester United at Anfield.

The Reds cut the gap on fourth-placed United to two points last night with a 1-0 win at Swansea.

Mignolet pulled off several first-half stops to deny Bafetimbi Gomis and Gylfi Sigurdsson before Jordan Henderson's deflected shot handed Liverpool their fifth successive Premier League victory.

And the Belgian keeper believes the performance at the Liberty Stadium proves Brendan Rodgers' side have what it takes to break into the top four.

"We showed the character and resilience during the game that you need if you're going to be successful," Mignolet said.

We have to try to do our best to get the win at home

"This was our sixth successive clean sheet away from home and we have to keep that going until the end of the season.

"Everyone is playing together, doing their job and willing to fight for each other."

Mignolet added: "This win sets up the next game and that's a big game of course.

"But we don't have to make too much of it, there's three points there and we have to try to do our best to get the win at home."
