Yaya Toure: Manchester City can cause Champions League upset at Nou Camp

YAYA TOURE believes Manchester City are ready to show they have learned their lessons in the Champions League by pulling off an upset in the Nou Camp tomorrow.

Toure will return from a three-game Euro ban as City bit to overturn a 2-1 first leg deficit against in-form Barcelona.

And despite a poor run of form, he reckons Manuel Pellegrini's team can pick themselves up from their shock defeat at Burnley to knock out the La Liga leaders and reach the last eight of Europe's top club competition for the first time.

Speaking to Nissan, the official automotive sponsor of the UEFA Champions League, former Barca star Touré said: “We have got a few fantastic players at City and I think it is a 50/50 game because they won [the first leg] 2-1.

“We didn’t win (against Barcelona) last season, but I think this year is different; it is a different team, a different squad and a different mentality.

"It is always difficult to play against Barcelona when you have to run after the score. But in football anything can happen, we have our chance and they have their chance as well and we will see on Wednesday.”

Touré reckons Barcelona midfielder Andrés Iniesta will be a key figure tomorrow.

“He is such a simple guy, humble, very passionate as well. When sometimes he doesn’t express it so much it is because he is very calm and everybody who plays with him will always love him because he has such a talent.

“He is such skilful player, small, sharp, clever and quick in movement. He is not as fast as Messi over 100 metres or like Cristiano Ronaldo, but in his movement he is very very quick and is sharp. All of his football is about the mind, he is very clever, very clever.”

Touré was speaking to Nissan, the official automotive sponsor of the UEFA Champions League, as part of his role as the car manufacturer’s global ambassador.
