Gary Cahill believes one more win is all they need to get their title hopes back on track

Chelsea could only draw 1-1 with Southampton at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, leaving them six points clear at the top of the Premier League with a game in hand on stuttering rivals Manchester City, and a further point ahead of Arsenal.

Showing the signs of a real hangover from their Champions League defeat by Paris St Germain in midweek, Chelsea took the lead through Diego Costa on Sunday, but were hauled back by Dusan Tadic’s penalty and looked tired as they failed to find the winner.

Chelsea have now drawn three of their last four home league games - but they now have a full week to prepare for next Sunday’s next league outing at Hull, the first of their ten left in the campaign for them.

Centre back Cahill reckons a win will revitalise his side: “We are desperate for the next convincing win to get us back up and running.

“A draw was not the end of the world. Man City dropped points on Saturday and we picked up another point and the goal difference is good.

I thought we did enough to win the game in the second half but their goalkeeper was fantastic

“But we are looking for the next result. Obviously there was disappointment in the week. It’s hard to gather momentum coming into a game when it was  disappointing just a few days ago but I’m sure we will kick on.

“I thought we did enough to win the game in the second half but their goalkeeper was fantastic.

“Now we are out of all the competitions apart from the Premier League, so we can prepare well for the next game, which is rare for us. We are just looking for that next win.

“As players we have to focus on the job in hand and the job in hand is the Premier League.

“It’s a massive opportunity for us this season, everybody knows. We have ten games left to go and we are in a fantastic position and we need to bear that in mind. We should be going out playing with freedom and not feeling pressure.

“We should be going out enjoying our football. That comes with winning games and the next win, I’m sure, is just around the corner for us.”
