The Gunners have moved to within seven points of leaders Chelsea this weekend after picking up a valuable 3-0 win over West Ham, while the Blues dropped two points in today's 1-1 draw with Southampton.

However, Wenger believes Arsenal's poor start of one win in six means his side are not in contention for a 14th top-flight trophy this term.

On whether Arsenal are still in the title race, he said: "Not at the moment but we just have to keep going.

"We’ve won eight of the last nine and we are stronger today than we were at the start of the season.

"We dropped off in this league because we won one of six at the start of the season. Today we are a different team.

"We suffered a lot from the post-World Cup fixtures. Players came back and they weren’t ready to play."
