Man Utd boss Louis van Gaal lifts lid on 'consequences' of Champions League failure

LOUIS VAN GAAL insists he is not worried about failing to earn Champions League qualification for next season.

However, the boss conceded it would be "very bad" to miss out on a top-four Premier League finish, with the current campaign now at its business end.

United sit fourth in the league with 10 games remaining, four points off third-place Arsenal and just two above Liverpool.

They play Tottenham at Old Trafford today before Liverpool travel to Swansea tomorrow in two games that could decide the last Champions League spot.

But Van Gaal is adamant that he will not get distracted by the pressure on him to achieve.

"I am not thinking of the consequences if we are not in the first four," he said.

"It is very bad for the club. But why do we have to speak about things that are not happening yet? We are longer in the top four than Arsenal."
