Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard is reportedly wanted by Celtic

The Scottish champions are seeking to discuss terms with US side LA Galaxy, who have signed the Liverpool captain on an 18-month contract starting this summer.

According to the Sunday People, Gerrard would be free to play in the Scottish Premiership between December and March, keeping fit before the new MLS season got underway.

The former England captain has already rejected the idea of returning to the Premier League, in the risk of playing against boyhood club Liverpool.

However, a loan spell at Celtic would certainly prove productive for the 34-year-old.

Gerrard wouldn't be the only player to return to Britain during the MLS offseason. Thierry Henry made a brief Arsenal comeback in 2012 and scored two goals before heading back to New York Red Bulls.

Landon Donavon enjoyed good spells at Everton in 2010 and 2012, while David Beckham spent back-to-back loan spells at Milan.
