Aberdeen's Jamie Langfield hits back at critics

JAMIE LANGFIELD reckons Aberdeen’s win against Motherwell will silence the cynics who thought they had blown their title hopes at Parkhead.

Jamie Langfield hopes Aberdeen can keep up the pressure on Celtic

The Dons goalkeeper, was back between the sticks for the first time in five months on Friday night.

He was recalled as Scott Brown paid the price for the 4-0 hammering by the Hoops earlier this month.

It was a happy return to action as Aberdeen battled back from a goal down for a 2-1 victory that reduced Celtic’s lead to just three points.

In the process Langfield was happy to show the doubters that the Dons do have the bottle to push the leaders all the way in the title race.

He said: “We were trailing at half-time knowing that people were just waiting to say, ‘Aberdeen have bottled it’.

“There are people out there just waiting for us to start dropping points, but we responded to dig out the win.

“That shows we are over the disappointment of losing the Celtic game and now we just need to keep on churning out wins like that.

“It might not be pretty to watch but the most important thing is we keep the good run going by getting the three points.

“The way we have been playing means we are a target for the rest of the league now, but that should spur us on.

“It’s a compliment that teams are showing us so much respect now and it should drive us on to do even better.”
