Man Utd's Victor Valdes reveals WHO he thinks is the world's best goalkeeper

MANCHESTER UNITED reserve goalkeeper Victor Valdes believes he must oust world number one David de Gea if he is to get playing time at Old Trafford.

Valdes joined United on a short-term contract in January but is yet to make a first-team appearance for the club.

The former Barcelona man has instead watched on from the bench as De Gea impresses between the sticks - keeping five clean sheets since Valdes' arrival.

But the 33-year-old veteran insists he is happy to see his compatriot perform as United strive to secure Champions League football for next season.

David de Gea remains Manchester United's no.1 goalkeeper

"You are always waiting for your opportunity to play and train every day to show your performance to the manager," he told United Uncovered.

"But now David is at a very, very high performance level.

"I think he is the most important goalkeeper in the world at the moment. So it is difficult [for me] to play and, of course, I must accept this.

"For me, the top [keeper] now is David. I see him every day in training. I watch him in every game, every week, and his performances right now are amazing."
